Privacy policy

Geriatric Physio respects your privacy. This page explains, in plain language, what information this website collects, why, how it is protected, and the choices you have.

Last updated: October 19, 2026

The short version

  • This website shares general health information. It does not provide assessments, diagnoses or treatment, and contacting us does not create a physiotherapist–patient relationship.
  • We only collect personal information you choose to send us — for example, through the “Ask a mobility question” form or by email.
  • Our interactive tools (the home safety checklist and walking aid helper) run on your own device. Nothing you enter in them is saved or sent to us.
  • We never sell your information.
  • Please do not send health card numbers or detailed medical records. This website is not for emergencies — call 911.

What we collect

Information you send us. When you use the “Ask a mobility question” form, we collect your first name, email address, who the question is about, the topic, and your question. If you email us directly, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message.

Technical information. Like most websites, our web hosting server automatically records basic technical information when you visit — such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. This is used to keep the site running and secure.

We do not knowingly collect information from children. This website is intended for adults.

How we use your information

  • To read and respond to your question or message.
  • To improve the website — common questions may be answered as articles on this site, without your name or any details that could identify you.
  • To keep the website secure and working properly.

We do not use your information for advertising, and we will not add you to a mailing list unless you ask to be added.

Our interactive tools

The home safety checklist and the “Cane, walker or rollator?” helper work entirely in your web browser. Your answers are not saved, stored or sent to us or anyone else. When you close or refresh the page, your answers are gone.

Cookies and third-party services

  • Cookies: this website does not use advertising or tracking cookies.
  • Fonts: the website’s typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser connects to Google’s servers, which may receive your IP address. See Google’s privacy policy for details.
  • Form spam protection: our form uses built-in spam protection that does not track you across other websites.

Where information is stored

Messages sent through the form or by email are delivered to our email inbox. Our website and email are hosted by a third-party web hosting provider, and messages may also be forwarded to an email service we use. These services may store information on servers outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country.

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including password-protected accounts, secure (HTTPS) connections for the website, and limiting access to the information to the person who answers your message. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so please avoid sending sensitive health details.

How long we keep it

We keep questions and messages only as long as needed to respond to them and to prepare general answers, and then delete them — normally within 12 months. Server logs are kept for a limited time by our hosting provider.

Sharing your information

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We only share it with service providers that help run this website and email (such as our hosting and email providers), or if required by law.

Your choices and rights

  • You can choose not to send us any personal information — all of the guides and tools work without it.
  • You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it.
  • You can withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal requirements.

To make a request, email us at the address below. We will respond within 30 days.
